Bon Mots and Cheap Shots

They got you thinkin’ that what you need is what they sellin’, made you think that buyin’ is rebellin’

I think my head is going to blow off of my shoulders this morning.

(CNN) — Three violent deaths in two stores marred the opening of the Christmas shopping season Friday.

A Wal-Mart employee at this Long Island location was killed in a rush early Friday morning.
A Wal-Mart employee at this Long Island location was killed in a rush early Friday morning.

In the first, a temporary Wal-Mart employee was trampled to death in a rush of thousands of early morning shoppers as he and other employees attempted to unlock the doors of a Long Island, New York, store at 5 a.m., police said.

…..”Several minutes” passed before others were able to clear space around the man and attempt to render aid. Police arrived, and “as they were giving first aid, those police officers were also jostled and pushed,” he said.
Sorry, everyone. There won’t be any Wine Dog shopping this year. Not because I don’t love you, not because I’m not willing to find you the perfect trinket, but because I am disgusted by the State of our Nation. I listened to BaaBaaWaaWaa interview Obama last night. He was so thoughtful about how the Captains of Industry who are laying off employees need to dial down their own salaries and bonuses, a drum I beat but not so thoughtfully over here at PBE. Maybe as a country we’re going to start to get it, I thought. He talked about turning off lights in his house at night and how he didn’t see how that was going to change at the White House. Maybe with he can turn this bitch around. The show was peppered with a gazillion Black Friday ads. And Black Friday it was for this family. Thousands of these people trampled the man so they could buy more cheap shit made in China. That is obscene. Even Justice Potter Stewart ought to know it. A 34 year old man died yesterday opening the doors to freaking Walmart when he was trampled. People continued to step on and over him and “jostle” the police and paramedics who were trying to help him. What a bunch of ignorant sheep assholes.
One of the things I notice in all of these REO properties I go into is how much crap they leave behind. On several occasions I’ve seen the brackets for multiple mounted big screens throughout the home. Piles of crap left behind that we have to wait while the attorneys go through their machinations. Useless crap, but by law the attorneys have to follow certain steps. I always look at that crap and think “What if you didn’t buy this crap and paid your mortgage instead?” Public Storage has made a bizillion dollars storing our crap. Builders have made a ton of money selling bigger homes so we had more room for our crap. What are we doing? We are a tribe wandering in the desert with no water for days but we will walk miles out of our way just to pick up a shiny object.
I’m sick of retailers. I’m sick of marketing. I’m sick of commercials. I’m sick of outsourcing and I’m sick of cheap crap from China. I don’t want to Expect More Pay Less while children work in sweat shops in third world countries. I don’t want to Save More Live Better if it means a man making $7 an hour gets trampled to death unlocking the door for a Christmas sale. I’ll pay more or go without simplify. And at the end of the day, I will live better.

Hopefully this country has really had enough and will let the new administration turn this bitch around. I’m pretty disgusted right now.

I do all my Christmas (oops, meant to be politically correct, “Holiday”) shopping at the 99 cent store. I am outraged that they raised their prices to $.9999. They think I’m made out of money?
Hope the better half likes her new ironing board cover and the cans of sardines.
